Please join me for “Cultivate Your Calm” presented by Pause, Gatherings for Women. Committed to creating gatherings that inspire busy women to make themselves a priority, gatherings are held in unique locations and are designed to nourish body, mind and spirit. In this nurturing workshop (held at the beautiful Roundhouse Farm) you’ll learn to create an oasis of calm and wellbeing in your day through simple soothing herb teas and gentle restorative yoga postures. Yoga & Herbs for Cold and Flu Prevention

Cold & Flu Season is just around the corner. In this two part workshop, we’ll fortify our defences and bolster our immune system with restorative herbs and restorative yoga.

We’ll begin with a walk through the neighbourhood’s two community herbal gardens. We’ll learn to identify tonic & adaptogenic herbs and berries, then create (and take home) an old-fashioned medicinal syrup.

Taken straight up by the teaspoon or mixed into hot tea, this tonic syrup not only help to ward off colds and flu, it does double duty to help relieve coughs, congestion and sore throats. Filled with aromatic garden herbs and delicious wild berries, it makes the medicine go down in the most delightful way!

Next, in the yoga studio, we’ll move through a series of slow restorative yoga poses to relax the body, allowing the healing function of the parasympathetic nervous system to kick in. From gentle twists, chest and hip openers, we’ll simulate the thymus gland and lymphatic system (the primary organs of the immune system) providing a short-term and long-term boost to the immune system. You’ll learn how to adapt these postures for home practice with a blanket and pillow for whenever you’re under the weather.

Celebrate Summer Solstice with Sacred Plant Magic & Yoga

Celebrate the first day of summer with the gathering magic of ancient midsummer traditions! On this day women entered the fields and forests to gather sacred herbs and flowers. Plants harvested on summer solstice were believed to be full with the heightened life force of the sun – so curing or magical herbs plucked on Midsummer doubled their powers!

The Summer Solstice is a perfect opportunity to bring plant magic into your yoga practice. We’ll harvest magical herbs and blossoms, make flower crowns & honour the fiery energy of growth with a practice designed to light your inner fire, energize your life & fan the flames of your summer intentions!

Afterward, we’ll enjoy Sun Tea and Summer Solstice Cookies.
