Yoga Therapy Workshops

Today both yoga and herbalism are demonstrated healing modalities with profound benefits for physical and emotional health, from enhancing immune function, cardiovascular, endocrine, digestive and respiratory health, calming the nervous system, improving sleep, assisting with depression, anxiety and stress, and increasing feelings of peace and well-being.

By using calming, restorative herbs in tandem with restorative posture, or digestive herbs in a yoga sequence designed to help us digest and detoxify, we further support the therapeutic effectiveness of our practice. 


Digestion Supportive Yoga w/ Herbal Teas

Digestion shapes every aspect of our physical and emotional well-being. This workshop is one part foraging foray, one part yoga practice. We begin outdoors and discover the many digestion supportive herbs, backyard weeds & wild botanicals that grow all around us. Back at the studio, we’ll create and sample a few tea blends. Then, in tandem with therapeutic yoga sequences, we’ll explore how to stimulate and support our ability to digest and detoxify. Participants will take home samples for use in their yoga practice.


Energizing Herbal Teas for Yoga & Life

We could all use a revitalizing boost. This workshop begins with a foraging foray and closes with a yoga practice. We begin outdoors exploring how common “tonic plants” can help restore physical energy,  invigorate systems in the body, increase musculoskeletal function, circulation and coordination, not to mention concentration, perception and mental clarity.

Then we’ll head indoors and learn how to prepare our plants in nourishing infusions and herbal teas. Then we’ll flow through a gently energizing practice to help open and dissolve stagnant blocks in our bodies and let fresh vitalizing prana flow in. 


Good Night: Calming The Body & Mind for Deep Restful Sleep

It’s no secret that insomnia and anxiety go hand in hand. In this workshop, we discover locally growing “nervine” herbs that help calm our nervous system and soothe stress. We’ll create and sample these herbs in a variety of bedtime teas and tinctures and explore how they can be used tandem with restorative yoga postures to prepare us for deep, restful sleep. Participants will receive a variety of samples for take-home.
